Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you use an account or writing feature, we process the information you provide: account details, interview answers, writing samples, drafts, edits, reference links and image information. We keep your saved versions, selected settings, usage records and policy acceptance records. Our hosting and authentication providers also process technical information such as IP addresses, request logs, device information and session identifiers for operation and security.

Why we use it

We use this information to provide your workspace, generate and revise requested content, save your work, protect accounts, respond to support requests and maintain the service. We use policy acceptance records to document the terms that apply to your account. We do not sell your drafts or use them for targeted advertising.

AI processing

When you ask for a draft or rewrite, relevant content is sent to OpenAI to perform that request. A draft request includes your brief and writing preferences. A selected-passage rewrite includes that passage, your tone and any writing sample. Avoid submitting confidential third-party information or sensitive personal data that is not needed for the task.

We use the OpenAI API with response storage disabled. This does not mean the provider retains nothing: its security and abuse-monitoring rules can still apply. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default. See OpenAI’s API data controls. BylineGo does not use your drafts to train its own models.

Service providers and sharing

Vercel provides website hosting. Neon provides hosted database and authentication services. OpenAI processes requested AI operations. Providers process information needed for their services under their applicable terms. Authorized personnel may access information for support, security or legal obligations. We may disclose information when legally required, to protect rights or as part of a business transfer with appropriate safeguards.

Public social publishing, recurring publication, payment collection and image uploads are not enabled in the current release. Before enabling a connection, we will explain what data it uses and request the necessary authorization. Entering a reference URL does not currently verify or fetch that page.

Cookies and local storage

We use essential session cookies to maintain access and protect requests. The private local preview uses a session cookie that expires after 30 days. Hosting or authentication services may use essential security cookies. We have not added advertising trackers or nonessential analytics. We will request any legally required consent before introducing nonessential tracking.

Retention and deletion

We retain saved content while your workspace remains active or you need it for the service. You can request a copy, correction or deletion by contacting us. We verify requests before changing account data. Deletion may be delayed where information must be retained for legal, security or dispute purposes. Provider backups and security logs may remain until their retention cycles expire. We will explain any applicable exception when responding to your request.

The local preview stores its drafts on the computer running it. Those local drafts are separate from hosted accounts and are not automatically uploaded when you register.

Your choices and rights

You can choose what content to submit, edit or download your drafts and contact us to exercise privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw optional consent or complain to a privacy authority. We do not condition basic service on marketing consent. Acknowledging this policy does not waive your legal rights.

Security, location and age

We use encrypted connections, protected server credentials and account access checks. No system can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate. BylineGo is intended for adults aged 18 or older. Do not use it to collect information from children.

Changes

We will update the effective date when this policy changes. Material changes will be brought to your attention before they apply where required. We will not use a policy update to silently authorize a materially different use of your existing private content.
